Osheaga 2024 was a resounding success, filled with electrifying performances and intimate artist interviews. Stingray had the privilege of sitting down with a diverse array of talent, from viral sensations to established icons, each sharing unique insights into their music and careers.
Hozier, Teddy Swims, Stephen Sanchez, and TALK offered deeper glimpses into their journeys and the secrets behind their success. Hozier, celebrated for his poetic songwriting, delved into the success of his songs on TikTok and how they resonate with fans. Teddy Swims, known for his genre-blending style and captivating performances, discussed his music topping the charts and how he feels when artists cover his music. Stephen Sanchez discussed his unique genre and vintage-inspired sound. TALK spoke about his creative process and the importance of connecting with his audience.

Nonso Amadi, d4vd, Libianca, New West, and Michaël Brun opened up about the whirlwind experiences that came with their breakout hits. Nonso Amadi reflected on how his breakthrough album connected with audiences worldwide, creating a new wave of fans. D4vd shared his surprise at how quickly his music gained traction and is being used everywhere from video games to television. Libianca, with her powerful vocals, discussed how it felt when she first went viral on TikTok. Meanwhile, New West, whose catchy tunes have been dominating social media, talked about the story behind their latest single ‘Stevie Nicks’ and their dream festivals to perform. Michaël Brun discussed his sets being full of diverse genres.

For rising stars Billianne, Cadence Weapon, Myst Milano, and Léonie Gray, performing at Osheaga was a dream come true. Billiane expressed her excitement about being part of such a prestigious lineup and how it felt like a validation of her hard work. Cadence Weapon, spoke about a deluxe version of his album coming out and some dream collaborations including Charli XCX. Myst Milano, with their bold and unapologetic style, shared their thoughts on performing at festivals and introducing their music new audiences. Léonie Gray spoke about the thrill of performing at Osheaga and how her family supported her throughout her music journey.

Adding a touch of fun to the festival, some of the artists shared their favorite karaoke songs, revealing a fun and personal side to their musical tastes. Mimi Webb loves belting out Britney Spears’ iconic “Baby One More Time,” while Stephen Sanchez enjoys serenading Shania Twain’s “Still the One.” Wild Rivers and Myst Milano both favor Third Eye Blind’s “Semi-Charmed Life,” showcasing their shared taste in ’90s rock anthems. Two Door Cinema Club members are fans of Blur’s “Parklife,” adding a Britpop flair to their karaoke sessions. Billianne channels her inner country star with Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” and Elderbrook surprises with Akon’s “Locked Up.” Léonie Gray pays homage to Amy Winehouse with “Back to Black,” and Libianca chooses the emotional depth of Rihanna’s “Take a Bow.”

In partnership with TikTok Radio, we asked everyone their favorite TikTok dance or trend at the moment. As expected, the majority answered the ‘Apple Dance’ by Charli XCX with some of them even doing it themselves. However, Stephen Sanchez answered ‘Hot to Go’ by Chappell Roan while Teddy Swims shared that he belts out ‘Nasty Girl’ by Tinashe in the shower.
Osheaga 2024 featured breathtaking performances from some of the biggest names in music. Chappell Roan captivated the audience with her dynamic stage presence and powerful vocals with ‘Hot To Go’ and ‘Pink Pony Club’. SZA delivered a mesmerizing set, blending her soulful voice with heartfelt lyrics. Green Day brought their signature energy and punk rock spirit, electrifying the crowd with their timeless hits. Noah Kahan enchanted fans with his introspective songs and warm stage presence, creating an intimate atmosphere. And of course, Hozier’s performance was a highlight, his soulful renditions leaving the audience in awe.
While each artist was very different, they all had one thing in common…They love Montreal’s crowds and people! Osheaga 2024 was more than just a music festival; it was a celebration of talent, stories, and the shared love for music.
